graphic design
Graphic design is the art of creating images that convey a specific meaning, often to a specific audience. It encompasses everything from posters, to websites and packaging.
key principles
1-
Colour - Its important to know which colours will compliment, wash out, or contrast other colours. Colour is arguably the most important element in graphic design, as it creates visual interest as well as affecting how we feel about and read the image. Different meanings and emotions can be conveyed considering the individual connotations of each colour.
2-
Shape - Shape theory is crucial to understand how shapes convey different meanings. In Graphic design there are three main types of shape: Geometric (square, triangle), abstract ('love'heart, stick figure) and organic (trees, rocks, flowers)
3-
Line - Lines are incredibly important and versatile. you can use lines to create patterns, add shading, guide the eyes, add depth and create perspective. The main kinds of lines are straight, curved, wavy, zigzag and dotted/dashed.
4-
Form - This is a fancy way of saying 3D objects. Form can be defined as shadows and depth. Adding a 3D element to a design can add a realism that can be engaging to the eye
5-
Size - how big or small something looks compared to other elements of a design. Size is more efficient when considering scale, and can draw a viewer's eyes to an important aspect of the overall image.
6-
Space - Distance between or around objects or elements. There are two kinds of space; negative and positive. Positive space is the space that's been taken up by elements, negative space is the empty or "white" space that has gone unused. Negative space is just as important because it helps avoid clutter, as well as frame and contain a composition. Proximity, overlap, opacity, light, shadow, and perspective can be applied to shapes to create visual dynamics.
7-
Texture - in Graphic design, this is how something is perceived to feel. there are image, Biological, environmental, man made and pattern textures. these can be used to draw attention to/move attention away from particular elements of a design.

TYPOGRAPHY
Typography is the art of organising type so that its easily legible and eye-catching. Different typefaces can convey different feelings and messages. the way the text is organised is also significant; for example, Letter spacing can make a big impact on how easy it is to read.
TYpefaces
Typefaces are fonts, or collections of letters in a specific style with elements connecting them all. Different typefaces have different effects:
