when it came to picking the colours for my print advertisements, i already knew i wanted to incorporate grey and blue somewhere, since they're very simple colours that aren't too distracting. i think for the end product ill go with the grey black and blue middle option. black for the text, grey for the background, blue for the logo/extra text

Print Mock-ups

these are 2 (very rough) mock ups of the kind of thing I aim to create for my print advertisements that i amde on Ms . I want one to be vertical and another Landscape so they could be up in multiple locations. The forever isn't guaranteed slogan is riffing on the fact everyone tells you "once its on the internet its there forever" which is not entirely true due to things like server shutdowns, web rot and moderation taking things down.

I have access to printer, shredder, camera and photoshop, so these designs are realistically achievable for me. I plan on printing off many iconic images that are instantly recognisable to my target audience (gen z) and shredding them all, so that I can survey people and ask which they think is the most effective as an advertisement. ill take multiple images of each paper being shredded to ensure I have a large batch of images to chose from.

here is a more refined version that I created on Photoshop with a placeholder image. in the final draft ill probably change the font a little so that the blocks of text vary more, keeping it sans serif to fit with the non-profit conventions. for now i like the layout of things on the page and think its a good first (real) attempt.

I plan to take photos at my grandparents house, since my nan has a paper shredder, computer and printer - plus its generally a nice house. I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to get the image I take to stretch across the dimensions of the landscape ad without cutting anything important off, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
Storyboard 1

This is the idea I want to use for my video ad, although I may not be able to include all the elements of it. it's going to be a basic, pulling on the heartstrings, cheesy advert, like the ones you see all the time around Christmas.

There will be a static shot from behind the computer - for this I may have to bring the desk forward so I can sit behind it. I'm hoping to film scenes over the course of a day so that the lighting is different and it shows the passage of time. the main idea is that someone is sat in front the computer, most likely children, and the very top of their head is visible, as well as the faces around them. the kids are going to have different reactions to different things, ill get them to play games, watch videos etc. one issue is I'm not sure where ill be able to find young kids willing to participate in something like this, so i may resort to using young adults. the impact of the ending will still be the same overall.

After these static shots, there will be one where the lighting is different to the older ones (I'm thinking colour grade the others to look nostalgic and leave this one looking bland) and there's nobody sat behind the computer. an old lady (supposed to represent gen z/younger generations when they're older) is going to sit down and look up the web preservation society. for the website ill make a simple rentry and decorate it to look more like a 2000/2010s site. after she's gone on the site her supposed grandkids will rush in to join her, showing that this kind of content can be enjoyed by all ages and shown to the newer generations. ill get a shot of all 3 from behind and fade to white as the logo comes on screen.
Filming location
Unfortunately, the desk I was hoping to pull out and position my camera behind is not a traditional desk and more a piece of wood that has been nailed to the wall. this means I'll have to re think the shots and order of my first storyboard. since I can't move the desk, my subject, Carole, will need to use a laptop. I think the best place to get shots would be under the stairs, facing the back of the sofa (3rd image). I could get a nice over the shoulder shot with the laptop visible.
Another notable thing is the poor lighting around the printer. I was originally hoping to use the printer as an element of one of my print adverts but I'm now thinking that it might be better to just photograph Carole with a laptop.

Storyboard 2
Plans for my first storyboard have fallen though slightly, with no kids available for filming and a desk that cant move, I'm going to have to re-think the advert. I made a rough sketch in order to base my shots off something when filming, i tried to keep the message and feeling roughly the same.
