Week 1 - 23/02
This week I worked on my Specialist Study referral and proposal. I had to re-write my proposal since my tutor informed me that, with my current idea, I would not be able to reach a pass. I've spent my time rethinking the proposal and other ideas for my fmp.
Week 2 - 02/03
This week I began my research, starting with analysis of similar projects and audience. I also created an audience survey in order to garner feedback and collect information on certain demographics.
Week 3 - 09/03
This week I continued my research into technical skills, looking at principals of animation and stages production. I haven't quite started the script or recording for my animatic but I have made a start on character designs.
REFLECTION:
I feel I'm on target, although I think my research might run over into the next week... next week I plan on finishing research and beginning planning. for me this will include character designs, reference sheets, storyboards, script and finding VA's.
Week 4 - 16/03
This week I began planning out the narrative of the animatic with a storyboard, as well as more character designs. research continued, including assessing the results from my survey and looking into the topic/genre of my animatic.
Week 5 - 23/03
This week I received feedback from my tutor in the from of interim review. I'm lacking in certain areas of research, so ill try and catch up on this. on Friday, I will record the first take of dialogue, hopefully we will get enough.
Week 6 - 30/03
We did get some dialogue recorded on Friday, but not enough, I need to record more audio over half term. I looked into the software I would be using to animate, since I wanted to use CSP but no longer have access. Krita is what ill be using, so I need to watch tutorials and such.
HALF-TERM - 06/04 - 19/04
I did manage to record more audio over half term, but certain events made it so I'm no longer in contact with the people I recorded with. I wanted to start animating during those weeks off but I had extraneous circumstances that made this very difficult. I worry I'm behind and really need to get on with beginning my animation. I have however, edited down the audio into a usable chunk to animate with.
Week 9 - 20/04
This week I began animating - I say animating, I mean drawing in key frames. once this is done, hopefully by next week, i can get kye to assist me in making sound effects on FL studio, then we can line them up with the animatic in prem pro.
Week 10 - 27/04
In trying to animate my project I've found it incredibly tedious, and am starting to come to terms with the fact that I may not get it completed in time for submission. I've considered re-starting my entire project from scratch, but this would require a large amount of concentration and commitment, which I know I'm not capable of. after I've completed the illustrations I also need to make sound effects. I'm feeling overwhelmed, not just by college, but by my personal life and the grief I feel over what I have lost. working on my project is not easy.
Week 11 - 04/05
I've been struggling to come into college, and as a result have fallen even further behind schedule. on Friday I had a meeting with my tutor about how to progress with my project, where she suggested shortening the length of my animatic. I had to remove about a minutes worth of audio, a shame because some of these parts really demonstrated the kind of humour I wanted to imitate, but if were being realistic I will not get it all done otherwise. with only 2 weeks left I am very concerned about the future of my project and the grade I will be given. I am regretting the choice of an animatic over something more image-based.
Week 12 - 11/05
I still haven't finished my animatic, I'm getting worried. regardless i got a lot done this week and I'm more than half way there. the main thing now is start on sound effects and get them ready for lining up with the animatic. my friend Kye will help me with this since he's a music producer. I am way behind schedule, but with a push I think I can have my project completed for submission.
Week 13 - 18/05
FINAL WEEK. I just finished my animatic and sound effects on Tuesday. I finished adding sfx to my project and exported the final version on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday were spent writing my evaluation and completing small things I was missing on my wix. I have submitted on time and completed my project for the deadline! yayy!!
