Film Marketing

The aim when marketing a film is to get it to appeal to your target demographics, spend as little money as possible and get the most attention. you want all eyes on your product for when release comes otherwise nobody is going to want to watch it. The marketing can make a movies reception, if the marketing is poor, people wont watch it, if the marketing is good they will. this hype can be generated in multiple different ways.

Posters

Teaser posters :

These posters are often cryptic and reveal minimal information about the film. This is to generate interest and curiosity. Teaser posters often don't include credits, just a release date and title.

Television Appearances

To increase public awareness of a film during its release, actors, or sometimes directors, will make public appearances on television, usually via talk shows or interviews. The aim is to generate hype around a project, increase ticket sales and provide inside information to what happens on set.

Barbie stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling went on Good Morning America, a widely popular morning talk show that has high viewership, to promote their upcoming movie Barbie. They talk mostly about the message barbie sends and the cultural impact of such a movie with such a statement to make. other co-stars make appearances and give their thoughts on their roles in the movie too.

Meet The Press

Promotional activates like this, often called press junkets, allow actors to provide insight to what happens during production. these press interviews are very similar to talk show interviews, just formatted as an article instead. they do this just before the product has been release/during its release to generate buzz from the public.
