I aimed to create an early 2000's themed, interactive, and engaging website for my podcast. I added a multitude of interactive elements, such as an audio player, social media buttons, anchor buttons, a donation button, a submission form and a logo that moves when touched. I tried a few things in order to make the site look aged, like putting most content in boxes, having a sidebar menu, adding graphics and gifs and adding shadows and highlights to emulate the glossy effect on a lot of old websites.
I made sure there was a variety of clickable things in order to keep the audience engaged. I've noticed that if a website offers me many clickable things, I'll stay longer and try to click everything in order to discover all that it has to offer. For example, the podcast isn't real so I cant have a real donate button, so when clicked the donate button takes you to another website with a donate button, which is also clickable.
I also added a lot of extra content to do with the podcast on the more page, since in the podcast I'm discussing something very visual, and its hard to really get what I'm saying unless you see it. I tried to make it more accessible by adding the anchors on the more page, so you don't have to scroll so much.
unfortunately, the animated effect on the logo is a little jumpy and rough around the edges, but for the most part it works, which I'm very happy with.
