UNIVERSITY
I don't see the appeal in university for me personally, since I'm not trying to go into a career that requires a degree/higher education and really don't fancy being in thousands of pounds of debt.
I also have a hard time with big changes and struggled significantly making friends/connections in college - IMAGINE how I'd be in university. This is only exacerbated by the fact I'm a year behind in college - meaning everyone I know well, everyone I went to high school with, is already at university, starting this year. I need to be around people that know me since I find it incredibly difficult initiating conversation, if I don't know anyone I will not talk. I find the idea overwhelming, uncomfortable and unneeded.
I do recognise the pros of higher education and the concept of moving somewhere new and getting to mingle and gaining independence sounds nice, I just know with the way I am, the reality would be much more depressing.
After college I'll most likely spend my time building my portfolio, getting my name out there and working in entry level positions for productions. I see a lot of potential in working for myself but realistically I'm not sure if I could do that. As I said before, I've managed to sell art commissions before so I know that's a valid route to go down.
UCAS
UNIVERSITY OF GREATER MANCHESTER
BA (Hons) Animation and Illustration - Full-time (3yrs)
University of greater Manchester is located in Bolton, which isn't too far from where I live now, so its an ideal place for me distance wise. I've always had an interest in animation, specifically 2D, but a lot of the Uni courses for animation I found were for 3D. This one isn't as far as I'm aware. This course does involve some exams but is primarily coursework based which I much prefer.
UNIVERSITY OF GREATER MANCHESTER
BA (Hons) Digital media & Content Creation - Full-time (3yrs)
This course is even more coursework focused than the other, though its also 70% independent study. I was interested in this course because they cover graphics, photography, animation, and media production and I like all of those.
RAVENSBOURNE UNIVERSITY LONDON
BA (Hons) Advertising and Brand Design - Full-time (3yrs)
This course has no exams and focuses on designing and advertising brands and business through a multitude of ways. this subject isn't particularly interesting to me - no where near as interesting as animation - but I know its something easy that I'm good at
UNIVERSITY OF BEDFORDSHIRE
BA (Hons) Animation - Full-time (3yrs)
This one includes 2D and stop-motion animation, with modules on different materials and design. I like how this one offers multiple types of animation but still not 3d cause 3d is stressful. still no exams, i like
THE NORTHERN SCHOOL OF ART
BA (Hons) Animation - Full-time (3yrs)
This is one of the more interesting courses that id be more likely to do. they do primarily 2D animation on software like toon-boom. There are no exams and you're graded on your animation projects, which is ideal since I've always preferred courses with no exams wink wink
